Ebook About The Unhoneymooners meets The Hating Game in this breezy debut romantic comedy about life--and love--30,000 feet above the ground. After ten years as a flight attendant, Ava Greene is poised to hang up her wings and finally put down roots. She's got one trip left before she bids her old life farewell, and she plans to enjoy every second of it. But then she discovers that former pilot Jack Stone--the absurdly gorgeous, ridiculously cocky man she's held a secret grudge against for years--is on her flight. And he has the nerve to flirt with her, as if he doesn't remember the role he played in the most humiliating night of her life. Good thing she never has to see him again after they land....But when their plane encounters mechanical problems, what should have been a quick stop at the Belize airport suddenly becomes a weekend layover. Getting stuck on a three-hour flight with her nemesis was bad enough. Being stranded with him at a luxury resort in paradise? Even with the sultry breeze and white sand to distract her, it will take all the rum punch in the country to drown out his larger-than-life presence. Yet the more time Ava spends with him under the hot Caribbean sun, the more she begins to second-guess everything she thought she knew about him...and everything she thought she wanted from her life. And all too soon, she might have to choose between keeping her feet on the ground and her head in the clouds....Book The Layover Review :
In this debut novel, Ava is a recently engaged flight attendant about to embark on her final working trip as a flight attendant. Urged on by her future husband, Alexander, she is planning to set down roots in Chicago. As a bonus, there is a coveted 24-hour layover in Belize. Ava’s excitement is dampened when she learns Jack Stone, someone she’s avoided for years, is working this trip with her.Jack is clueless as to why Ava does not like him and seems amused at her chilly behavior. After their plane breaks down and they are forced to stay another 24 hours in Belize, Ava contemplates her true feelings about her career, her past, her relationships, and her feelings for Jack. This is a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance, and I was engaged from beginning to end. I have always been fascinated by the commercial air industry, so I enjoyed a peek into the pros and cons of life as a flight attendant.Ava is a great co-worker, has a keen sense of adventure, and is prone to making snap judgments. She has her work routine regimented with precision, but her personal life is all over the map. The unexpected delay gives her time for some soul-searching and making self-discoveries. I wish there were a deeper dive into her lack of true friendships and her nomadic life as a child.Ava and Jack have a funny, competitive streak that stays with them from take-off to final landing. I laughed at their clever back and forth banter and absolutely adored their co-workers, Gen and Paul.If you enjoy breezy island romances and want to feel the warm sand in your toes, then I recommend you add this book to your beach bag before the captain has turned on the fasten seatbelt sign! This book ruined my summer!!!!!! I was so looking forward to it!! I had preordered a couple months ago and was delighted when it showed up just in time for my Myrtle Beach trip and read it in two days while soaking up the sun. Rom-com is not my normal genre. I'm more of a true crime murder-ey reader with the occasional fluff to break the intensity. So the fact that this book won me over speaks volumes...This book was so freaking delightful to me, I was lost in it. Having a couple more beach/lake trips planed I was looking forward to some more "beach books" but none will measure up to entertainment and fun this provided for me. Hence, summer ruined. The rest will only be so-so compared to The Layover. Normally I fall in love with one or two characters but I loved every single character in this book. Waldon makes each character unique and lovable in all different ways. I could read a sequel about any of them! I had an ending imagined that would perfect it and wrap it up nicely for me but, leave it to Ms. Waldon to trump what I had imagined. It gave me so many chills I had to grab a blanket, and brought tears to my eyes. I doubt you'll see it coming. Impatiently awaiting book two from Waldon.
